ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Zee*' land SHeepbreeders' Association wai held last evening in the Canterbury■. A. and P. Association's rooms. Mr James Beid was' in the chair. The Association's annual report stated' that Volume 27 of the Flock Book had been published, .containing flocks of the following breeds: — Lincoln ..i . • ® < English Leicester • • HI Border- Leicester ». • • 157 Romney Marsh .. .. 25 Southdown .. • • 23 Shropshire ... •• 41 Merino .. .. 43 Eyeland .. .« 3 Suffolk .. 1 • • 5 Corriedale" .. .. 24 Half bred ... • • • 19 Total .. 457 Twenty-four flocks had been dispersed or withdrawn during the year, while 25 new flocks were admitted. Amalgamation Proposed. Consideration had been, given to proposals that one flock book, embracing all breeds, should be published by the various breed societies. Figures whyih had been prepared showed,some saving to the individual breed societies; but two of the six organisations it wa» hoped would join—the Southdown Society and the Corriedale Society—haddecided against such a scheme. The balance-sheet showed a. credit balance of £32 8s 4d, and the reserve against 'overdue fees has been added to and amounts totalling £lB. 8s written off. The excess of assets ov.er liabilities was £7Ol 4a lOd.
On the motion of the chairman, th# repo'rt and balance-sheet were adopted; It, was decided to recommend the Council to teke steps to secure a general reduction of costs by not less than; 10 per cent. " . . Election 6t Officers. Officers for the next three years were elected as follows: —Chairman, Mr Johi} Deans; vice-president, Mr James Beid; council: Messrs C. P. Gainsford (NelsonMarlborough), J. Beid, and J. Stevenson (North Canterbury), Donald Grant (South Canterbury), JoW Deans, T. 8. Little (North Otago), U. J. Andrew; (Otago), P. Campbell, jun., J. A. Edwards (Southland), "W. C. Knight, H, E. Potter (North Island)! i Mr Arnaud McKellar waß re-elected auditor.
