MURDER OF CHEMIST.
AN ALLEGED DEVELOPMENT. (FRESS 4SSOCIJLTIOS TEI.E3IUM.) AUCKLAND, March 16. lu connexion with the resumption next week of the inquest concerning the murder of Arthur James Blomfield, a city chemist, on October Slst, 15)31, it )s reported that a new development occurred. It is understood that tho police have learned by chance of a young man who has told a story that on the nignt of the murder he was in an hotel when two men whom bo knew entered and asked for a drink : Both were agitated, and in conversation one allegedly sam that they had "settled" Blomfield. Their story was "that they hud gone to the city \n a motor-car, and one called on Blomfield to arrange for the easier .payment of a debt which they owed. He returned to the car and told his companion of Blomfield a refusal to meet the request. It is alleged that, taking a spanner from under the seat, he deel ar ed th he would make Blomfield see leason, and then returned to the shop.
