DARING THEFTS.
| SHOW-CASES BROKEN INTO. j Breaking open the show-cases of three shops in the centre of the City early on Saturday morning thieves secured goods to the value of between £3O and £4O. The breaks were particularly daring, as they must have worked within fuil \-iew of- any possible passer-by in the well-lighted streets. The premises visited were _ The jewellery shop of A. C. O. Robilliard, corner of High and Hereford streets. • The chemist's shop of Wallace aiid Co., High street; fcnd The 'Wholesale Boot Company, Cashel Arcade, Cashel street." The owners of the show-cases evidently rely upon their exposed position dinconraging prospective thieves, for a screw-driver was all that was required to effect an entry in each case. Tb.3 raiders must have worked very quickly, and probably had a motor-car handy, in which, to make their escape in the event of discovery. About £2O wortli of amber ear-rings and Daoklaces were stolen from Robilliard's show-case, which is situated close to a taxi-stand in oa3 of the most-frequented parts of the town. At Wallace's. the thieves were able to break open the back of the showcase, removing, a number of* cameras and camera cases. After the thievc3 had broken open the show-cases at tiie Wholesale Boot Co., they found that the displays were of left-foot boots only, ana nothing was removed.
