MOTORISTS' CAMP.

ADDINGTON SHOW GROUND. FACILITIES APPRECIATED. The motorists' camping ground at the Addington Show Ground, which is regarded as being the most up-to-date in the Dominion, is being liberally patronised at present, the average number of parties camped there during the holiday period being 30, while as many as 60 parties have been accommodated on one day. Yesterday about 18 parties were in possession during the morning and afternoon, but it was expected, that others would arrive before 10 p.tri. All for Two Shillings. About 40 acres of land are available for the pitching of tents, and "in addition motorists who prefer to do so may camp inside the concrete cattle shed, where their cars may also be parked. For a fee of 2s per night a. rpotorist may have free parking and car .washing, "the use of a free telephone, hot and cola showers, and gas rings for eooking purposes, which are operated on the penny in the slot principle. A further convenience is the use of clothes irons, which are also free. There is an abundance of hot water. Porcelain baths are also available for ladies and are greatly appreciated by those who arrive in camp fatigued after a day in the car. Parties are allotted a long table for tjieir private use, and yesterday when "Roadster" visited the camp each table had at one end all the cooking and eating utensils of the party concerned. A Bervice greatly appreciated by visitors is that provided by the butcher, baker, and milkman, who call at the camp every day. As the milkman calls early, campers usually leave 3d, 6d, or a larger sum under their "billies" or jugs as an indication of the amount of milk they require.

Cubicles. Gubicles are ■also provided, the charge for which is 2s 6d per night per adult, or 14s per week, while for children the charge is Is per night, or 5s per week. The reason that the accommodation is so good is that it was provided in the first instance for exhibitors of stock at the Canterbury A. and P. Association's Summer Show. There are 20 cubicles each with two bunks and 15 each with four bunks, and electric light is available. The grounds are closed to campers for a week every year so as not to interfere with the arrangements for the Summer Show. So popular are the quarters, however, that recently two parties who had to go elsewhere during Show Week were back again as soon as they wero allowed to finish their holidays. The caretaker. Btates that no fault can be found with the class of people who use the camp, and as an indication of their honesty he says that not on one occasion in three years has anyone ever attempted to leavfe the camp without making payment.
