The Berlin correspondent of tho "News-Chroniclo" says Dr. Bruening, tho Chancellor, strenuously closes his eyes to tho fact that tho people are no lm»g«r behind him. Ho is becoming an impossible politician and must surrender office to a really National Government. In spite ot this, however, events during tlio past weok aro considered to have strengthened Dr. Brueniug's position and weakened Herr Adolf Hitler's. Tho Chancellor is recognised as tho only statesman having a policy likely to gave Germany from a crash. Communists Clash -with Police. Communists in Hamburg broke tho Christmas truce and clashed with tho polieo at the famous Dom Fair, when they wero prevented from haranguing thousands of visitors. Ono Communist was killed and four Communists were wounded. The riot lasted ninety minutes. Five Communists havo been arrested.
