Riccarton stables are represented by the following horses in the nominationa for the Manawatu Racing Club's Summer Meeting:—Sailor's Love, Zeebrugge, Babel, Cricket Bat, Winsome Hind, Fleeting Glance (H. and A. Cutts), Invictus (C. Davey); Adelphi, Desert Song, Royal Baby (T. Lloyd). Starter at Greymouth. The North Island trainer, R. E. Hatch, has been reappointed starter for the Greymouth Jockey Club's Summer Meeting. % A 'New Arrival. The Riccarton trainer; R. McLennan, has taken in hand a three-year-old filly by Arausio from Delphi, thus a sißter to Adelphi. J3he was purchased as a yearling at Trentham for 30 guineas, and' after being broken in was turned out to allow her to finish' growing. She is backward at present, and is not likely to be raced for a few months. Hororata Stnd. This year's foalings at Mr H. M. Reeves's Hororata Stud are as follows: Cymene,' colt to 'Chief Ruler and has -visited Iliad; Sweet Charity, colt to Night Raid and has visited Philamor; , Clemency (Limond —Sweet Charity), filly to Hunting Song (not served); Grey Eyes, filly to Hunting Song (not "served), Ped Shank, colt to Night Raid (not served); Killina, colt to Paper , Money (not served); Vicereine, colt to Paper< Money (not served);' Sennight, filly to Tea Tray and has visited Paper Money; Gay Round, filly to Night Raid, thus a three-quarter in blood to Phar-Lap; other mares in the stud have been 'mated as follows: I—Scrip 1 —Scrip to Tea, ''ray, Sympathetic * (Martian—Sweet Charity) and Rapina (Paladin —Pineta) to Philamor. > -Head of the Lists. -- At .the conclusion of last week 's racing, the; winning trainers' list was' headed by T. R. George' 13, Mrs A. McDonald 10, E; J. Ellis 9, A. Cook 9, D. P. Wilson 8, E. George 8, L. G. Morris 8, J. T„ Jamieson 8, and F. D. Jones 7. In -the jockeys' division the leaders were;—H. Gray 34, H. Wiggins 25, L. G., Morris 20, E. A. Keesing 14, K. Voitre 14, B. H. Morris 13, R. Reed S; Anderson 11: • Randwick Stakes. - Although most of the important handicaps have suffered a reduction in added money, the committee of the Australian Jockey Club, at a recent meeting, decided that the Donfcaster Handicap should again carry '£2ooo added money this year. The Sydney Cup, however, is to be reduced from £SOOO to £4OOO. In 1929, when racing was normal, the added money for the races was respectively £2OOO and £6OOO. • English, Owners. , There are; as tilery always are (says "The.Field','), rumours that a number prominent' owners and breeders are 'about to go out of the game, but so far no names have been mentioned. Such , owners and breeders as Lord Derby,' the Aga Khan, and Lord Glanely, to mention only a few, have shown no afttwe signs of reducing their, studa, although more than one of them nuisfc have put his hand into his pocket last season to the extent of some, £30,000

to keep going. It is true that a few .men who came into the game in rocent years have gone out, but they were not in a big way, and were never really keen on the sport. Their places have been taken by a number of smaller men, and after all, the small man is wanted as much as the big one. It is probably. many years since there were so many small enthusiastic owners racing. So long as they can win a race here and there they will not worry about giving up. •. Waiau Meeting. The Waiau Pacing Club's Annual Meeting will be held at Fulton Park, Waiau, on January Ist, 1932. The club is to be congratulated on keeping up its stakes, and as there are more local horses about than usual record nominations are expected. The Meeting is a popular one of the picnic variety and is well attended from all parts of North Canterbury. j TROTTING NOTES. j Reminders. Acceptances for the New Brighton Meeting close to-day at noon. To-morrow at 9 p.m., nominations close for the Waikouaiti and Oamaru Meetings (two trotting events on each programme). Nominations for the Ashburton Trotting Club's Summer Meeting close tomorrow at 5 p.m. Nominations for the Waiau Meeting (three trotting events) close on Thursday at 9 p.m. Nominations for the Winton Trotting Club's Annual Meeting close on Thursday at 8 p.m. Nominations for the Greymouth Trotting Club's Summer Meeting close on Thursday at 9 p.m. Excellent Nominations. The Gore Trotting Club lias received excellent nominations for it's Meeting to be held on Boxing Day, there being a very fair sprinkling of Canterburytrained horses Good Teams. J. S. Shaw has no fewer than six horses nominated for _ the Auckland Meeting. They are Mr Penalty, Royal Silk, Peter Pirate, Our George, Ukulele Lady, and Impromptu. W. J. Tomkinson has the same number, comprised of Free Advice, Golden Pedro, Tempest, Sir Voyage, Surprise .Tourney, and i Actor, while C. S. Donald is next on the list with four, being represented by Pluto, Avernus, Stand By, and Denver Hinds. On the Improve. Royal Parade, runner-up to Colorado at Ashburton on Saturday, added to his already fair sized list of minor placing*;, but Saturday's was his best effort to date. He is racing- more solidly now than he was towards the end of last season, and it will not be surprising to se him recorded a winner' before the holiday Meetings are concluded. Trained at Belfast. ; Denver Hinds, whose name appears amongst the Auckland nominations, has done most of her racing on the WesJ Coast, but she is now in C. S. Donald's stable. Not Persevered With. > Big Blaze, who recently joined J. S. Shaw's team, is not to be persevered with in the meantime, and she has been sent on a visit to Jack Potts. Big Blaze is a three-year-old unraeed filly by Worthy Bingen from Bonfire. For Carterton. Oklahoma, who made his first appearance! in a race at 'Ashburton. on Saturday, is one of tlie few Canterburytrained horses to have been accorded a nomination for the South Wairarapa Meeting., Canterbury Horses. Canterbury-trained horses nominated for the Gore Meeting are as follows: Louis Bingen, Rembrandt, Modern Girl, Lohengrin, Childe de Oro, Senorita, Mountain Ore, Gold Country, Actor, Sandown, Nimbus, Jade, Stanley Bingen, and Mountain Dweller. Adverse Circumstances. "When Autowin ran in the Mayiield Handicap at Ashburton on Saturday he had an enlarged knee so his performance in finishing fourth in such circumstances was good. He is staying on much better than formerly, and his prospects of picking up a stake sre far from remote. GORE T.C. NOMINATIONS RECEIVED. -■The.
