ELLESMERE A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

At a meeting of Hie General Committee of the Ellesmere Agricultural and Pastoral Association. held at Leeston oil Thursday, Ur Joseph Brooks presided. The president pressed his thanks to the officials and all others who had helped to make the recent show successful. Since the ■previous meeting the death had occurred of Mrs John lioug, sen., widow of one of the earliest members of tlio Association; Mrs G. K. Rhodes, wife of a patron, and Mrs T. W. Durant, wife of a former secretary. A resolution of sympathy with their relatives was carried. The committee accepted an invitation Irom the Director of Lincoln College for members of the Association and farmers .generally to visit the College on Farmers' Day, luesday, December 15th. An approximate statement of the tnancml position, presented by the secretary, Mr H. Neave gave the receipts to date as £(>96 Is 4d (entry fees £136 15s, subscriptions £227, gate £ll7, sundries £93 9s). Payments included £339 for prizes, and £129 16s for sundries, leaving a bank balance of £i7 Os 4d. Liabilities totalled £232 14s. Assets were set down as £289 19s Od (bank balance *77 Os 7d, subscriptions £212 18s lid), ine an estimated surnlus of £o7 5s 6d. Mr L B. On the motion of Messrs Witliell and McMillan, it was decided to vote £5 5s to tlie Kliesrpere Brass Band for its services on Show Day. For services rendered tu connexion with the Winter Show bay, Mr J. Purser was voted a sum of £5, on the motion of the president and Mr H. SchneUe. Mr Coe mentioned thatthere was a rule which provided that cows in the- milking classes roust, be milked before 10 a.m. iw Show Day. In some cases the rule had'not been observed, and unless it was enforced it should be deleted.
