FIXING A BRIDGE IN POSITION. (iuiub orwciAi. wtmmJ (Received December 6th, 5-5 p.m.) HUGBY, December 4Early to-morrow morning at Southgate Station, London and North EasJ«ern Hallway, an army of wrbfitß, aided by all the latest mechanical devices. will commence work on the task of fixing a new bridge, which is scheduled to be completed on Sunday in 24 hours. Some 200 feet of lines most be moved and 1000 tons of earth excavated. Tbea a steel bridge with a 70-feet span b to be placed in position, all without interfering with tiic normal train service. This remarkable effort, which depends for success on the perfee* organisation of labour and the efficiency of British appliances, is undertaken by Sir Robert MacAlpinw and Sons.
