TRADE TREATY.

A commercial agreement betwen Brazil and Canada was signed provisionally to-day. It will be submitted to, the Canadian Parliament for approval before it becomes effective. Canadian trade with. Brazil is considerable.

An Ottawa message explains that Canada receives the minimum tariff on all goods exported to Brazil under the proVisional trade treaty. Canada" will also be given ,the most-favoured nation treatment, entitling tlie Dominion to the free entry of Canadian freßh fruits. In return Canada grants Brazil her intermediate tariff. The conclusion of the treaty is coincident with the coming into effect of | the new double-column tariff system inBrazil. Previously imports from Brazil entered Canada under the general tariff. The-Treaty is made provisional bocause a treaty of-more permanent char-' acter must have the approval of the Canadian Parliament before becoming effective. At the next session of Parliament a treaty, it is understood, will be submitted giving Brazil the most-fav-oured nation treatment.
