SWIMMING.

♦ OPENING OF SEASON. The Fendalton, Opawa, Richmond, Christchurch, and Lyttelton Swimming Clubs opened their season on Saturday afternoon under j pleasant weather conditions. There was a good attendance at each of them, and club events and children's races were held. j FENDALTON CLUB. Declaring the season open at Fendalton, _ the president (Mr J. Mawson Stewart) urged the boys and girls when learning to swim to learn a proper stroke, and to concentrate on it with a view to taking, part in races. The club, like all others, was feeling the . depression. but the sun would shin again. Exhibitions of swimming were given by L. J. Moorhouse (backstroke), A. T. V. Stokes, and D. P. Lindsay.
