. « PERSONAL. (.SPECIAL TO TAB F8156.) GREYMOUTH, December 6. Mr .Frank Osbourne, who has managed the Y.M.C.A. at Tiroroa for the past three years, and Mrs Osbourne, left for the North Island on Saturday. Mr and Mra J. M. Carruthers, who have been on an extended visit to Sydney and Melbourne, have returned to Qre3 r mouth. Dr. D. Swift, who has been house surgeon at the Grey Hospital for the past two years, has tendered his resignation, and intends leaving for England in January. Mr (J. T. J. Wilson, of Greymouth, has taken up his residence in St. John's -College, Cambridge, and is reading for the second part of his historical tripos. Mr J. Oollogan and Miss Freda Collogan, who have been on a visit to Greymouth, are returning to Christchurch on Tuesday, from where they go to Temuka. Mr and Mrs P. Chambers have left Runanga for Christchurch, where they intend to reside. Mr A. H. Fastier, inspector of the Bank of New Zealand, is visiting Beefton. Mr and Mrß A. B. Riddiford, Blackball, are visiting 'their daughter, Mrs Tiplady, in Geraldine. Mr and Mrs A. PJrillip, of Melbourne, are visiting the West Coast. Mr and Mrs-J. Fergus, Christchurch, who have been spending a holiday on the West Coast, returned on Saturday. Obituary. The death occurred at Reefton on Thursday evening of Mrs Prince, widow of Frederick Prince.' She had lived in Beefton for about forty years, and iB survived by one daughtor and two sisters. Her husband died twenty years ago. Lewis Pass Road. A meeting was held in Reefton oti Thursday evening to discuss matters i« connexion with the Lewis Pass road. Mr J. G'Regan presided, and there was a good attendance. The chairman considered the present was an opportune time to press for the completion of the road. After a short discussion it was resolved that the meeting affirm the desirability of completing the Lewis Pass road, and respectfully urge on the Government that the construction should be put in hand at once, either as a permanent work under the Public Works Department, under co-operative contracts, or as an unemployment work. It was decided to send copies of the resolution to the Prime Minister, the Minister for Public Works, the various members of Parliament interested, the Christchurch Progress League, the Canterbury Automobile Association, and ths Frogress Leagues in the district. It was decided to invite, through Mr Black, M.P., the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates. Minister for Public Works, to "visit the district as early as possible in the new year.
