PICTURED above is an actual reproduction of a photograph of British workmen in" a British Motor Factory reading a poster urging them to buy New Zealand produce in return for New Zealand orders placed with the Factory. These posters are part of the advertising scheme of the Empire Marketing Board, which, financed by the British taxpayer, is spending millions of pounds in helping to sell Dominion produce. The same Board, also out of funds subscribed by the British taxpayer, teaches us, through scientific research, how to produce more and better produce to sell to our kith and kin in Great Britain. In five years our Home Country has taken £81,000,000 more in value of our proosce than we have of hers. Is it not time we commenced to help Great Britain—and incidently ourselves —by buying more British motor cars and trucks, because we can prosper only as Great Britain prospers? She is now our one great remaining market. Every British Car or truck bought in New Zealand means two* 5 or three more people back in employment in Great Britain —more people to buy our primary produce. What are we doing to help Great Britain? In five years we spent, in round figures, £2i,500,000 on motor Of these, only £5,100,000, or less than 25%, went to Great Britain. Would it not have been better business to have spent more of our money with the Home Country? She.cannot continue to buy from us, or to lend us money, if we do not buy more from her.
