OBITUARY.
LORD DOWNE. (MITID PKIS« ASSOCIATION—BLBCTXIO TTLEOEWH—COPTBIOKt.) LONDON, December 3. The death has occurred of Lord* Downe, aged 59 years. i [Lieutenant-Colonel John Dawnay, «he 9th Viscount, served in the South African War 1900-01 (disoatches, Oueen's medal, seven clasps, D.5.0.); European War, 1915 (C.M.G.. Bt.Lt.Col., Chevalier Legion of Honour). His heir is the Hon. Richard Dawnay.3 MR H. A. SPEEDY. Mr Hcctpr Albert Speedy, a wellknown figure in the Waipukurau district, died this week, aged 60. Mr Speedy was born at Wainui in 1871. Subsequently he went to the Wairarapa and Canterbury, where he farmed in the Ashburton, Rakaia, and Selwyn districts. Later he returned to Hawke's Bay. Mr Speedy served as a member of the Takapau Road Board, and was a member of the Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society, the Farmers' Union, and various racing and sporting clubs.
