AN OLD LANDMARK DESTROYED.
(PJSBSS. ASSOCIAMOK TILZSKAM.) AUCKLAND, December 3. ' Fire completely destroyed Dyer's Ha,ll, one of the oldest buildings in Paamure, to-night. The outbreak, which is believed to have been caused by smouldering scrub, occurred shortly before 9 o'clock. The glare of the fire could be seen for miles.. A large crowd gathered, hundreds of motorists travelling from the city and suburbs. Within an hour of the start of the fire the hall was a heap of ashes,-none of the contents being saved. As a result of falling timber from tho burning building striking'the telephone' wires, the greater part of tho township of Panmure was .cut of from telephonic . communication. The building provided accommodation for about 250 people. It was last used on Wednesday, when it was one of, the polling booths for the Manukau electorate.
