MAGISTERIAL. SATURDAY. (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) DRUNKEN MOTORIST. William John McMullen, alias William Daley, alias Bert Gilbert, alias William Armstrong, an engineer, agod 53, was charged with being intoxicated in charge of a car. He pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant J. Fox said that a constable had seen the accused coming out of an hotel drunk. He got into his car, and was about to drive away when the constable arrested iiim. He had not driven the car and there had - been no accident. Accused had a long criminal list in New Zealand and Australia, which included one conviction for being drunk in charge of a car. McMullen said he had been very ill lately, and the liquor he had taken must have upset him. -You should not have a license at all," said the Magistrate. "You do not know how to use it." McMullen was fined £ls and costs. His license was cancelled, and he was prohibited from obtaining another until June l»t, 1934. CHILDREN'S COURT. (Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., Mrs T. E. Taylor, J.P., and Mr W. M. West, J.P.) BY-LAW CASES. Two boys, both aged 14, were fined 2s each for cycling at night without lights. Another boy, aged 14, was fined 2s for riding his bicycle on the footpath. A boy, aged 16, who had been driving a car, was fined 20s for failing to give way to traffic approaching from the right at an intersection. He was admonished and discharged for having an inadequate horn on the car.
In a reserved judgment delivered on Saturday, his Honour Mr Justice Kennedy dismissed the petition of Margaret Mary Charhs for a divorce irom her husband, James Charles.
