FLOWER SHOWS.

ANNUAL DISPLAY AT DARFIELD. The Dariield Horticultural Society held its annual spring show in the Memorial Hall on Saturday. In spite of the backwardness of the season there was an excellent display of daffodils and other flowers, many of the exhibits being of a high quality. A total of 810 entries was received, which was an increase on the total for last year. In the evening the president, Mr G. C. Warren, presented the Bpecial prizes, ana when doing so, ho thanked tho exhibitors, judges, and all those who had assisted to make the show a success. Ho specially referred to the capablo manner in which the secretary, Mr A. J. Bannister, had carried out his duties. Tho following ivcre the judges:—Daffodils and cut blooms, Mr D. M. The third annual spring flower aliow under the auspices of the Waiau sub-branch of the Plunkat Society was held in the Public Hall on Saturday. Though the function was somewhat late in the season the entries were slightly in excess of last year, and in apite of the unfavouraole weather experienced during the past few days most, of the blooms were m excellent condition, exhibits were well staged and made an attractive display. A prominent feature ot the show was tho test-arranged bowls oi 2* daffodils and the best-arranged bowl* of flowers other than daffodils. These were two excollent exhibits and showed much artistic taste on the part of the exhibitors. The collections of daffodils., too, were of a nigh standard, that of Mr Morse in particular being exceptionally praiseworthy. The judges were tho Misses Murgatroyd, who performed their task in a highly satisfactory manner. The trophy for most points was won by Mr Morse with 00 points, "Kaiwara," being second with 16, and Mrs H Dampier-Crossley third with 14. There was a good attendance of the public during the afternoon, and the afternoon tea provided by members and supporters of the Society was well patronised.
