At, Wiugham Park, before an uttondanio of 1300, in the match for tlio interprovincial trophy, tins Anisy Shield, the West Coast representative team defeated. Canterbury by y7 to 19, after an interesting' and at times highly exciting game. The ground was muddy after recent rains, ad tho ball soon become greasy; but 1101withslanding these enditions both sets of backs handled well. Coast had the territorial advantage, and on their play deserved victory. Howison, one of the visitors' fullbacks, sliowod up yell,' his tackling- and handling boing vory sound. Palamountain, v/hllst not improssive, made soino good saves at times. Both tho Coast wingers, Goro and L'-evonport, played /well, and wero always dan l geroUK. Jorgensen was the better of the Canterbury wingers, though Stuart made no mistakes. Smith was outstanding in the Canterbury pack, and was well supported by Rogers and Brownie. Mr L. Hunter controlled the game, and gave every satisfaction. The scorers- tor West Coast wore Devonport, Masters, O'Brien (2), Core ('J). Hart, Uodds (2) Masters secured four conversions and a penalty. J.or Canterbury, Jorgensen scored three times, converting his first try, and also Amos's try. Stuart and Amos scored tries. 9 DRAW FOR NEXT SATURDAY. Condon). Sixth Grade —St. Joseph's v. Uiccarton, at St. Joseph's. 2.45 p.m. (Mr \V. Young). Schoolboys' Grade —Woolston v. Sydenham, Monica Park, 1.30 (Mr E. Keller); Linwood v. Biccarton, llagley l'ark, 1.30 (Mr C Row); Addington v. St. Joseph's, at St. Joseph's. 1.30 (Mr W. Young). The i'ifth Grade competition was won by Linwood. Junior Team for -West Coast. ■Mr V.
