AMERICAN PROGRAMME NOT HEARD IN CHRISTCHURCH. A radio programme of an hour's (Juration was to ha'oxs teen broadcasted by tha Majestic Radio Company, Chicago, through tho Columbia Broadcasting System at 1.30 p.m. Kew Zealand time yesterday, but unfortunately that hour was not a very suitable one ior reception in Christcliurch, and despite a special endeavour by Mr George Simpson, of Gloucester street, to establish contact, nothing of the programme was heard. One American station was picked up, but it was not on the Columbia system. The broadcast for the hour mentioned was estimated to cost the company 40,000 dollars. Mr Simpson said that as far as listeners in Christchurch are concerned the best time to get American contacts was about 4 p.m.
