A Parliamentary Commission has recommended the Chamber to take pro* ceedings in default against ex-King Alfonso, on a charge that he committed unconstitutional acts before -the republic was formed, and also the immediate confiscation of all royal property. , . At Barcelona at least eight have b& e n killed andlmanv injured in the general strike, which is paralysing the city. All the shops are closed, and the newspapers are not being published. l«e troops are confineij to barracks, and telephone and telegraph lines nave been cut. The post office, bank#, and Government buildings are guarded by machine guns and police equipped with rifles. , , The strike was declared as a P ro " test against the drastic suppression or the Communist mutiny in the gaol yesterday. Cavalry dipersed the angry strikers 'by firing on a mob which was provrling in the streets.
