MAGISTERIAL. FRIDAY. (liefore Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) DISOBEDIENCE OF MAINTENANCE. Ethel McGregor, alias Ethel Gaaaen, alias Parker, alias May Giles, was convicted and discharged for drunkenness, nnd for disobodieuco of a maintenance order was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour, warrant to bo suspended so long as she pays 20s within 46 hours, and tho balance of arrears by instalments of 2s 6d a week, plus the ordinary instalments of maintenance. IMPRISONMENT FOH FRAUD. Goorgo William Nelsoir Wildermoth, aged 41 years, was charged with five offences of attempting to obtain, or obtaining, small sums o£ money by false pretences. He pleaded guilty. On one charge of obtaining £1 Wildermoth was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour, and on each of the others was convicted and sentenced to seven days' imprisonment with hard labour. SENTENCE IMPOSED. llcnry John Carter (Mr W. J. Stacey) alias Harold Charles Oarbern, aged 41 years, appeared for sentence on three charges of obtaining money by false pretences. He was sentenced to four months' imprisonment with hard labour on each of two of the charges, and to threo months' imprisonment, with hard labour, on the other. BY-LAW CASES. Samuel Porter was fined 5s without costs for driving a motor-cycle without lights. .Florence Gilchrist was fined 5s and costs for allowing a chimney to catch fire. For cycling at night without lights the following were dealt with:—Richard Freeman lOx and costs, Prank Tonner fis and costs, Arthur Wright 5s without costs, Albert George Smith, convicted and discharged. Queenie Ohinnery was fined 5s and costs for driving without being the holder of a motor-driver's license. Tbomaß McDonald was fined 5s without costs and 20s nnd costs on similar charges. For cycling on the footpath Leonard Edgar Gould was fined 10s and costs. A charge of riding a motor-cycle without lights against Thomas Edward Calder was dismissed. Russell Oakley Haigh (Mr W. F. Tracy) was charged with failing to give way to traffic on the right, and with failing to report an accident. The first charge was dismissed, and on the second charge defendant was convicted and fined 10s and costs.
