There are certain important features which Guides sometimes forget in connexion with badge examinations. The first is their fifth Guide Law—"A Guide is courteous." Any Guide,.who enters for a badge examination must have her work ready, must be at the examination at the time and place appointed, and must bring with her -the- required proficiency certificate. If the Guide is unable to attend the' examination she is required to notify the-examiner or the provincial secretary.

This week'bein{» school term holi- ! days, several' companies have' been out for "hikes." The Burwood Guides with Miss IJonaldaon, captain, in charge, took fh^tram "to Sumner, walked to Lyttel--toii;Tia.' Evans Paw, and thence'onto •Corsair Bay. The -Tend®rfeet' had a wonderful time, fires were lit, the billy, .boiled and chops and sausages were codked. After lunch'"tracks'* were -laid and: games, played. . Returning home thttragh. LjHtelton the parlor were shown over the large motor-Vessel Bangitata, which was a novel experience for the grcater number, of the Guides, and was much . appreciated by all.
