SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
There was a large attendanco of members and friends at the Scottish Society's Hall, Manchester street, on Thursday, when & concert arranged by Chieftains B. M. Speirs and M. Shier was presented. The Chief, Mr T. Gordon, gave a brief address, outlining the Society's activities, and in the course of 'his remarks expressed the opinion that the foundation stone of - the Scottish Society's Barns Memorial Hall -would bo bid on January 26th next. Miss Alice Gibbs was at the piano and Piper Yardley opened the programme.awl accompanied the dancing. Items were given as follows Highland red, Misses Campbell, Belmsr, DickAon, and VValton; song, "Lass; of Baliaihnyle," Mr J. North: song, "Bonnie Hoose in Ayr," Miss M. Shier; eohg, Mr Findlay, "The Gay Highway"; Highland fling, Miss Xrenora Upton; pianoforte solo, Mr Cruickshank; recitation, Mr Llewellyn;. Irish jig, Mr Stewart, Fraser; Soflg, "Whin May Bella King, fjlss Smith;' sword - dance, Miss Rorai Beliner; song, ."The Bachelors,". Mr J. Forbes; Irish jig, Misses. Diftkion itia CMttfJbell; song, "Loch Louiond," Miss King; fsilor's hornpipe. Miss Mwgd Wilton; song, , Ir J. North, "Turn Ye.to Me"; reel o* Tullocli, Misses Campbell, Belmsr, Dickson, and Walton. At the conclusion of the performance, Part Simon McDonald mo-red a vote of. thanks to ilie artists and the promoters of the concert.
