ALLEGED THEFT.
SECOND-HAND DEALER CHARGED. •" (MS.KS3 AS3OCIATIOIL TKUviasU.) AUCKLAND, September 3. "This man, when he knew that the police were looking for him, dumped, a lot of jewellery,, including one ring worth £2OO, into the harbour from the ierry," asserted Detective-Sergeant Kelly ? in the Magistrate's Court, when opposing' she granting of bail to Howard Dura ii, aged .31, a second-hand dealer. The accused was charged with stealing a cottee service and other goods worth £8 15s. He was remanded for a week, bail being refused. John Andrade, aged 69, a dealer, was charged with dishonestly receiving .a gold bracelet worth £5. He was also remanded. Bail was refused, the Magistrate saying that overy day there were house burglaries in Auckland. There would hardly be one if there were not men to receive the goods. . Britain's annual bill for imported fruit is £31j000 ; 000. .
