STAPLE INDUSTRIES. REORGANISATION BEING CONSIDERED. (.BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRE Ltd S.) (Received July 29th, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, July 28. The president of the Board of Trade, Mr William Graham, -was asked in the House of Commons whether he would institute an enquiry into the woollen worsted industry to investigate measures for reducing the burdens involved in inflated capital charges in certain sections of the industry. He replied that reorganisation of this and other staple industries was receiving the constant attention of the Government and a special enquiry as suggested was unnecessary. Mr Graham was also asked if he now decided to seek power to bring the iron and steel industry within the control of the Public Utility Corporation or if he had an alternative policy in view. He replied that negotiations with the industry concerned were continuing. Sunday Entertainment. The Committee of the House of Commons which is considering the Sunday Performances Bill, to-day passed Clause 1 of the Bill, which empowers the authorities to license premises, for Sunday performances of films.
