WELLINGTON BOARD REDUCES SALARIES. (KVESS ASSOCIATION TBLEiSRiV.) WELLINGTON, April 30. Without discussion ,the Wellington Hospital Board passed a resolution that all honoraria, salaries, and wages, excepting award wages, be reduced 10 per cent. In the case of those paid monthly the reduction is to operate from April Ist, and in the case of those -paid weekly from April 80th. f It was decided that* in addition to . this reduction all members of the staff Jiving in, except first, second,' third,, and fourth year nujses, shall have/the " equivalent of 10 per cent, of the value ol tbeisr emoluments .deducted from tlieir salaries or wages. These conditions do not apply to appointments made since December let, 1930, if the commertcinsc " salary is , below the sehedulo rate. . . . ' Thg-new/(«Widiti6nS are to remain in operation Until Dumber 31st, 1932. when, according, to resolution, the 1 whole position will be reviewed by the Hoard. Upon an intimation from the Department that it was not prepared to recommend the Minister to approve its estimates until the amount had been reduced from. & 144,623 to £ 120,789, the Board decided to-day to make the | necessary adjustment. .To enable this to be done a special meeting of the Board ! will be held on Tuesday next. The adjustment will involve. an alteration in the apportionment of the levy upon local bodies.
