RANGIORA. A meeting was held in the Methodist.- Sunday School on Wednesday evening to form a Rangiora basketball club. There was a large attendance ot intending members, and the meeting was presided oyer by Miss E. •G. Macdonald. • The election of officers ."resulted as follows: —Patron, his Worship the Mayor, Mr C. The Cheviot' Croquet Club closed a successful season on Wednesday last in beautiful weather when there was . a large attendance of members and visitors. During the afternoon the prizes won during the season were presented by Mr B. Skinner. There was a good attendance at the annual meeting- of the Cheviot branch, of the Plunket Society, the president, Mrs G. R. Macdonald, presiding. A pleasant function was held in the Waikari Hall recently, when tlie residents of the district held a kitchen evening in honour of the approaching marriage of Miss Kennard. Mr Saundercock, when presenting the guest with, a handsome clock on behalf of the staff of Saundercoek Bros., expressed their regret at parting with so pleasant and willing an assistant. Miss Kennard was also the recipient of many useful gifts, which, Mr Lindsay said, were a token of the great esteem in which she was held by all with whom 6lie camie in contact.

At the annual meeting of the Waikari Miniature Rifle Club, held in the Public Hall, there was a good attendance of members. The balance-sheet, showing, a satisfactory credit balance, was adopted. A successful meeting was held in Waikari to inaugurate a North Canterbury Miniature Rifle Association, Waiau, Scargill, and Waikari being represented. Mr Saundercock (Waikari), who was elected president, was voted to the chair, and Mr B. Marsden (Waikari) was made secretary. It was decided to start senior and junior competitions in the first week in June, other clubs to be invited to participate.
