——♦ . I The. usual fortnightly social of the Canterbury .Caledonian Society was held at the Caledonian Hall on Wednesday evening and was well attended by members and friends. Mr Geo. Bey, vioe-presidont, occupied the chair, and was supported by Mr W, Edginton (vice-president), and Mr F. O. Neate The programme for the evening was submitted by Mr G. Sey and Mr T. J- Whyte, directors of the society. During the evening eleven new members were elected. > . The following contributed items: Selections by the Society's Pipe Band; songs by Miss Chappel,. Mr L. Martin, Mr N. Blenkinsop; recitation, Mr R. Faster; violin solo. Miss Chamberlain; Irish reel, Misses 31. and J. Fraser, I. Clark, and E. Jennings; *J or . n ' pipe, Miss Joyce Fraser; Seann Triubhais, Siss M. Fraser; piping selection, Piper Dawßon; skipping dance, Miss B. Jennings ; Highland Keel, Misses J. and M Fraser, I. Clark, and E. Jennings. The accompanist for the evening was Mr G. C. Russell. The concert was followed by a dance, music being supplied by Mr E. Jackson a orchestra.
