OBITUARY.

MR A. W. HALL, M.P. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TECJEOEAM.) WELLINGTON, April 18 (1.30 a.m,). In the House of Representatives this. morning, the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Ooates, announced that Mr A* W. Hall, Reform member for Hauraki, who had to enter, a private hospital in Wellington earlier in the week, had passed 1 away. Ha was sure all members of the House would regret Mr Hall's death. Mr Forbes expressed regret, and Sympathy on behalf of all members of the House, aiid immediately moved the adjournment.

Mr Hall was member for Hauraki seat, which he ' held for the Reform. Party' by a substantial majority at the. elections in 1028, defeating Mr EJ Allen, the United candidate, and Mr C. -R. Petrie, the Labour candidate. Mr Hall had "not for some time enjoyed robust health, and, possibly for this reason, he took no very active part in the discussions in the House. He was, however, well known to the members and was very well liked by members in all political Parties. Yesterday a report was Current in

Wellington that Mr Hall had died, and this report was sent out by the Press Association and published in the evening papers.. His death actually , occurred at 1.30 this morning.

MR W. D. MONROE. Mr William David Monroe, who died on Wednesday, at the ago of 85, was well known in Sydenham, in which 6uburb he lived for many years. Mr Monroe came to New Zealand from County Down, Ireland, while still in hia teens, and settled in North Canterbury, later moving to a farm at Xiongbeach. He left' Lohgbeach to reside in Sydenham. Mr Monroe was ah uncle of a former Primo Minister of Newfound-? land. One of his brothers was a wellUnowu Trish King's Counsel. , He is survived by eleven daughters, a son and two daughters having predeceased him. There are thirty-one grandchildren and eleven great-, grandchildren. s
