ADDITIONAL NOMINATIONS. NEW CANDIDATE FOR HOSPITAL BOARD. / For seats on the! Christchurch City. Council;, the liyttelton Harbour Board, and the North Canterbury Hospital Board, the following Citizens? Association's candidates were nominated yesterday:— Mayoralty. Miss E., A. Aitken nas been selected, by the Citizens' Association as its eighth candidate for the North Canterbury Hospital Board. Miss Aitken is a daughter of Mr J. H. R. Aitken, an early settler in Canterbury, who arrived at Lyttelton in 1864 and took, up the Buccleugh station and afterwards the Glendore station. Miss Aitken is honorary corresponding' secretary to the Overseas League, and is a "member of the committee of the Home Service Association, and of the Repertory Theatre Society. She has been organising secretary to the Queen's Club, delegate on two occasions' to the Na-. . tional Council of Women representing the Wojften's Branch of the Christchurch Citizens' Association, and when that branch was formed she was organising secretary for the first year of its existence. Miss Aitken had nursing ex-" perience in England before the war, and did V.A.D. work during the war just outside London. She was home sis:.teir at Hornchurch for about' a year,. and was there when the troops were demobilised. ■ - . RICCARTON MEETING. The Riccarton Citizens' Association will come to a. definite decision at its meeting to-niglit in regard to" the selection of candidates for the forthcoming Riccarton Municipal election. "With the object of saving the' expense of an election the present Mayor, l Mt. H. 8. S. Kyle, M.P.,' and Councillors have been approached as to whether they would be willing to stand again in a body. As-a result the president I of the Association, Mr" R. W. Bright- ! ling, will make a statement in the ! matter. Dr. Hi T. Tliacker and the- secre-tary;-of the .Port Christchurch League, Mr B. - Philpott-Growther,' will address the meeting on its aims' and objects. -
