Oldridge) has prepared & full report covering the year's activities. The report states that the past year., has been one of. the most successful in the history of tho school. Owing to ill-health the resignation of Mrs A, Holden was received, the vacancy tm the committee being filled by Mrs" L. Hulston. The purchase of a new piano involved the sum of £65; but two successful concerts have reduced this amount by £l4 10s. The school grounds, which .were in a very rough state, next received attention, and,, thanks to the generous support of the Education Board, levelling and sealing with scoria ' were undertaken, and, a.t., very little extra cost, could be put in order for grassing. A bazaar held on November 29th, 1930, resulted in the sum of £B3 being raised, and in this connexion the thanks of the committee are dqe to all those who gave such generous support on that occasion. Aa a result, the committeo was abief to pay off the remaining liability on the piano, provide enough for the annual picnic without canvassing the district, and set asido between £2O and £3O for ground improvements on which the Government subsidy of £2 for £1 was -obtained for unemployment relief. The hall also received attention, . and tho school picnic held at the Riccarton racecourse proved to be one of the most successful yet held. One matter brought up at the last annual meeting was the dissociation of the Community- Hall from the A deputation headed by the Mayor (Mr W. If. Nicholson) waited on the Education Board, which unanimously decided to give its support in .any step taken to bring about the required: result.' The M.P. fbr the district, Mr J. McGombs, - represented the case to the Minister for Education, who promised t<s pay a visit to the school When in Christchurch ; but' so far he has not been down. The fact that tho School had advanced a grade, necessitating, the appointment of another permanent teacher, was very gratifying. Salient features of the •'accounts were purchase of a piano for. £55, the expenditure of £B4 _ on. uiiemplbyiflent relief, and the amount of £l4B 10s raised by local efforts. -
