RANGIORA. , On Thursday evening, Mrs H. M. Chappell entertained the members of the Junior B and Junior A section of the Croquet Club at her home to celebrate the Winning of the Junior B Flag. Progressive euchre was played, Mrs W. Gardiner being the prize-winner and the consolation went to Mrs 8. Webber. The president, Mrs W. Free presided. The Minister for Health (the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy); replying to the Board's letter protesting against the publication of information bearing upon the drainage of Leeston, wrote that he considered there was justification for the warning, septic tanks being liable to cause pollution. : Commissioner Lyons said that at » meeting last year the Medical Officer of Health had stated definitely that there was no likelihood of pollution, yet the letter from the Minister stated that there must be pollution;; If it was correct that the wells were going to be polluted by septic tanks, the Board should not grant permits tor the tanks. . ~ It was decided to hold the letter for reference when any further applications for tanks were received.
