WOMEN'S TOURNEY ENDS.

AUTUMN FOURSOMES. SEMI-FINAL. AND FINAL ROUNDS. The autumn foursomes match was concluded at the Shirley links yesterday, when the semi-flaals were played in the morning, &nd the final in the afternoon. The weather in the morning was perfect, but in the afternoon, a cold drifting, sea-fog made conditions rather: chilly for the spectators, though it was not dense enough to affect the players. ; " The following were the results: —<Vi.'v Semi-finals. •' Miss.E.' Parsons and Miss H. Loughnan beat Mrs McOlatchie apd Miss B. Hobbs, 4 and 2. Miss E. Bell and' Miss S: Watson beat Mrs E. G. Kerr and Miss B. Kiver, 2 and 1. " Filial. Misses E. Bell and S, . Watson boat Misses'E. Parsons and H. Loughnan, 1 up at' the 19th. NOTES ON THE GAMES. In lhei> match against Mrs McClatchib and Miss B, Hobbs, who were receiving five strokes, Miss Parsons and Miss Loughnan started off with a - f 'birdie" 4 at the first hole. The second and third holes..' were halved, and at. Land's End and Farthest North both pairs holed but in 5, but. Mrs McOlatchie and Miss Hobbs received a stroke at each, thus winning both and making them 1 up. Miss Parsons- and Miss Loughnan responded by winning the next four holes, Which gave them a lead of 3 at the turn. The next two holes were halved, and Miss Loughnan and. her partner increased-their lead by a win with a .4 at The Pines, Mrs McOlatchie and JVliss Hobbs won Old Nick with a well-played 3; the"next two holes were halved, and Miss. Parsons and Miss Loughnan ' won »in 5, thus taking the match 4 arid 2. The match between Miss Enid Bell . (Herotaunga) and Miss Sophie Watson (Palmorston North) against-Mrs E. G. Kerr (Timaru) and Miss . B. Kiver (Christchurch). proved' very interesting throughout, and at times quite exciting. The .North Jsland players, who were conceding , three, strokes, had occasional extraordinary lapses on the green, varifed by more frequent flashes of startling brilliance. Misses Bell and Watson won the first hole' in 5, and, after being on the-green at Briggs' in . 2 . to -.their opponents' 3, they took 3putts and halved th«l hole in .5. At Land's End Miss Watson approached too far with her third, and the hole was won by Mrs Kerr and Miss Kiver in 6; At the fifth hole Mts Kerr and Miss Kiver r receiving a stroke, lost; a good chance by inaccuracy on the green, and succeeded in only halving the bole. At Mairehau, Miss Bell sank. a. 14ft •putt for a 4, and' with the assistance of her partner went on to win the seventh in a smartly-played 4. Miss Bell was now deadly on' the greens, and she gave her opponents little chance when she again holed 'a .magnificent putt for 4 at the eighth.; At

Cr-osswaya, Miss Kiver played a gqod J tee shot to the green and won 'the'hole in 3, reducing her opponents' lead-to' 2 up at the turn. The North Island' players won. Upshot, and at O'Borke's ■ Miss Kiver sank a long putt for se 5, | and, receiving a'stroke, won the hole--Encouraged by their win, Mrs Kerr and' Miss Kiver won the Pines in a well- | played 4, and Old Nick in 3, thus | squaring the match. At Pagoda, with.the match square, j Miss Watson sank a 14ft putt for 'a. 5 and a win. At the seventeenth, Miss Bell and Miss Kiver both, had fair drives. Miss' Watson played her.wood | to the edge of the green. Miss Bellfs .approach putt was short, but again Mi?a i Watson holed a very long .putt, and ] won the hole in 4 and the' match, 2 i and 1, - 1

Miss Bell had; an.' accurate tee' shot at Old Nick, which she .won in three. Shirley provided an almost incredible number of incidents. From a good drive, Miss Loughnan- put the second into the bunker to the left of the green, aud Miss Bell promptly followed suit, her ball lying, in an almost unplayable position in the same bunker. Miss Watson, nobly making the best of a very." bad job, hit out with terrific force, and her ball flow across the green, hit the fence at the back of the green-keeper's house;- and came to rest in the rough I After; many further -vicis- • situdeß fn both sides, Miss Loughnan fcnd Miss Parsons won the.hole, and also took Farthest South in three, to their opponents' four.
