Although not yet definitely decided upon it is more than likely that the closing day will be April 11th. Sowing Club. ' The Suinner-Hedeliffs Rbwing Club is' indebted to the Lyttelton Harbour Board for the gift of sufficient timber to repair the club's staging. The members will carry , out the work themselves in the next few weeks. ■ Tennis. • | In the third round of the women's handicap. singles Miss H. Cook (plus 15) beat. Miss : M» Paterson (plus 15) i 9-5. The finals of the various club com- | Petitions will be played this afternoon, but owing to N the fact that G. A. Webb is playing in the inter-club competitions at Wilding Park the final of the men's championship singles will be played at a later date. Although members will continue playing, this afternoon's games will, in an unofficial way, close the season so far as matches are concerned. The season has/ without doubt, been one of the most successful for many, years-. The club's activities have been' well supported and the work of the executive has been rendered easier by the knowledge that the interest of members has now been definitely secured. ■ Volunteer Fire Brigade. In" their first innings, Sumner made 65, to which High -School replied with 127. In their second innings Sumner made 321, E. Cooper -19, ■ K. Shand 42, and J. Coleman' 8 being the principal scorers. High School made 59; for eight wickets. Hockey. The Eedcliffs Ladies' Hockey, Club "•and the Eedcliffs Club will held a combined opening at Linwood Park' on April 11th. The Mayor and Mayoress of Sumner (Mr and Mrs W. ,H. Nicholson) have signified their intention* p£ being present, the latter being the patroness of the Club. Mrs W. D.
