[THE PRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, December 5. The past week on the Stock Kxehungo lias been one od falling prices. The general sagging movement in the market for sound stocks started toward the close of last week, and this has lioen continued right through, otuy easing slightly during the past day or to. iliven to-day. in spite of the fact that the market for a few stocks hardened slightly, falls were recorded in other directions. Gilt-edge securities are meeting with a steady demand. The banking group has suffered one of the worst reverses of the past eighteen months. Even New Zealands have lost ground, selling dt;wn to 52s 4d, compared with 53a earlier in the week anil 55s on the previous Friday. Unions, which wero ch-alt in at £9 12s at the close of last week, were offered to-daj at £9 10s without drawing a buying quotation. Commercials of Australia were also easier. The insurance section, after falls paiiy in the week, rallied somewhat at the close, New Zealands gaining 3d. Queenslands are weak, following the onnoiin"ement of a lower dividend. The principal feature of the loan and agency section has been the announcement of the passing of the interim (iiridend on Goldsbrough. Morts, the market easing Is 6d to rally slightly to-day. Other loan and acency shart have been practically neglected, with buyers showing .ittle or no interest. Coals have had steady buyers on low levels throughout. Little attention has been paid to breweries. New Zealands feeing only one sale. The market eased following the announcement of the lower dividend Tn Australian industrials falls have again predominated. Shares in sound New Zealand industrial concerns held fairly firm ear'y tn the week, a few gains being recorded, but there has heen a general sagging tendency during the past day or so.
