LOANS FROM STATE.
TROUBLE OVER DECLARATIONS. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, December 4. Arrested this afternoon, a taxi-driver, William Cornelius Torckler, aged 33, was brought later before tlio Magistrate's Court on a charge of counselling another man on November 26th, 1929, 'to make a declaration which would amount to perjury if it were made on oath or affirmation in judicial proceedings. The declaration was stated in the charge to have been made in support of an application by the other man for a State Advances loan. When accused was brought before Mr Woodward, S.M., a remand was applied for, and this was granted, accused being ordered to appear next Thursday. Bail was allowed in £IOO, with two sureties of £,50 car-h. Accused was ordered to report daily to the police. Another arrest made later was that of a man charged with making a false declaration in order to obtain a loan xrom the State Advances Office.
