ST. LUKE'S CARNIVAL.

£143 COLLECTED.

At the conclusion of St. Luke's carnival last evening the organisers were able to announce that £143 had been collected. Giving the result to a reporter, the vicar of St. Luke's, Archdeacon INT. Taylor, said that in view of the times it was quite satisfactory. Last year over £3OO had been collected, but then the carnival had lasted for three days instead of two. Entertainments given at the carnival yesterday were as follows: —4.15 p.m., a dancing display, under the direction of Miss Mulvany Gray and Miss Mary Menzies; 7.30 p.m., a vocal and instrumental recital by the pupils of Madame Ottlee; 8.30 p.m., a grand concert; 9.30 p.m., two sketches by pupils of Miss Lucy Cowan. During the afternoon and evening music was provided by an orchestra trader the direction of Mr h. ,Valedga.
