* PICNICS. Yesterday a party of 220 from the Training College held a picnic at Diamond Harbour. The Addington Convent School picnic, numbering 100, was held at Corsair Bay. To-day 90 students from the School of Art will picnic at Diamond Harbour, while to-morrow the Rakaia United Friendly Societies' picnic, numbering over 900 persons, will be held at Corsair Bay. Picnics will be held at Lyttelton every day next week with the exception oi' Monday. Water for Gardens. The Borough Council have decided that persons taking water i'or gardening purposes in any manner not in accordance with the-by-laws will be prosecuted. Two of the conditions under which water may be used for gardens are that water shall be taken only between the hours of 6 and S a.m. and 6 and 8 p.m., and that the hose must be held in the hand, and not left running or spraying without attendance. Harbour Light Theatre. "Let's Go Places," a sparkling musical comedy, starring Lola Lane and Sharon Lynn, will be repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre with a Fox News, revue, and comedy. To-morrow "The Night Ride," an alltalking drama of the underworld, starring Joseph Scliildkraut and Barbara Kent, will be screened. The supporting programme includes a Paramount News, Oswald cartoon, aud a comedy. Bowling. The following have been selected to represent the Lyttelton Bowling Club in friendly games with rinks from the Rakaia and Heathcote Bowling Clubs to-morrow.
