SHOP ROBBED.

HAIRDRESSER'S LOSS. To have £BO worth of goods, representing practically the whole of his stock, taken from his shop by thiaves within a fortnight of his establishment as a hairdresser and tobacconist at the corner of fcselwyn and Coronation streets. Spreydon, -was the unfortunate experience of Mr Norman Francis yesterday. When he arrived at. the premises to commence work in the morning tjie door was open, a crowd was outside, and inside were empty shelves.

In every sense of the term the thieves had made a "clean _ sweep." Apparently they made their visit shortly after midnight, for neighbours were awakened at about 12.15 a.m. bv the sound of voices, which seemed to come from the direction of the sliofc, One man, who heard the voices, was reasrsured after glancing at his watch, because he thought that the hour was too early for anything to be amiss. Later he heard a car moving down the street. The burglars entered by way of the shop's front door, which they burst open. To do this thev smashed the lock, which was found yesterday morning severed from the wood. They took all that they could of Mr Francis s stock, leaving only a few small articles, and two electric hair-clippmg machines, the worth of which they evidently did not recognise. Mr Francis computes his loss at £ay. Lobacco, cigarettes, and hairdresser s sundries, including razors, scissors, and bottles of oil and oream. were among the things taken. Apart from the loss of his stock, the robbery has com o at a particularly inopportune time for Mr Francis as he commenced business only a fortnight ago. Prior to that he lived in the North Island.
