Lawa (Nelson, Marlborough, and West, Coast Regiment) has beca awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Officer's Decoration, after 21 years' commissioned service with the _ New Zealand Volunteer and Territorial forces. Captain Lawn served overseas during the Great "War. "Miss «T. Charteris, of Kumara, left thin morning on a visit to the Kortb Inland. Wedding. The wedding was solemnised at St. John s Church, Westport, yesterday, of Francis Eoy, eldest Bon of Mr and Mrs I'. McLean, of Westport, to Edna May, second daughter of Air and Mrs Arthur Craddock, Capo Line. The bride was attired in a frock of ivory satin, and wore the usual wreath and veil. She was attended by two bridesmaids .Miss Connie Craddock, sister of the bride, and Miss Elva McLean, sitser of the bridegroom. They wore pale green and mauve satin frocks, respectively, with hats to tone. The bridegroom was attended .by his brother, Albert, as best man, and Eoy Craddock, as groomsman. Mr and Mrs Eoy McLean left later by car for Christehureh and the North "island, on an extended honeymoon tour, the bride travelling ia a brown celanese satin fro-.'k. Cycle Club. The annual meeting of the Greymouth United Cycling Club was held last evening when thirty members were present. Mr T. Turtill presided. The annual report and balance-sheet (which showed a credit balance of £22 8s 2d) were read and adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr Jas. O'Brien, M.P.; president, Mr J. D. Wingham; hon. secretary, Mr J. F. Laing; executive committee: Messrs T. Turtill, P. Davidson, J. Mclnroe, A. J. Pratt, B. Beams, J. Magee, E. Bradley, B. Hogarth, J. Kay, A. H. Wilde; club captain, Mr H. Turtill; vice-cap-tain, Mr K. Honey, jun. Magistrate's Court. A sitting of the Greymouth Magistrate's Court was held to-day, Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., presiding. I'rederick David Williams (Mr M. B. James) claimed £lO 10s, in connexion with board and lodging, from William Haddock (Mr W. J. Joyce). Plaintiff was licensee of the Royal Hotel, which was destroyed by fire on May Ist. He stated that the hotel books were lost by fire. Defendant denied that any money was owing. He admitted that he had paid £2 10s since the fire. He had done so, he said, to avoid any trouble. The Magistrate accepted the evidence of plaintiff and gave judgment against defendant for £lO 10s, with £1 10s Court cosst and £2 12s solicitor's fee. Otira Tuxmel. This brings one well within walking distance of the vicinity of Cannibal Gorge. Owners' and Breeders' Association. The annual meeting of the West Coast Owners' and Breeders' Association was held this evening, when Mr H. Hughes (president) presided over a good attendance. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President Mr 11. Hughes; vice-president, Mr W* Reid; secretary and treasurer, Mr R Cooper; management committee: Messrs C. Heaphy, D. Morgan, the president, vice-president, and secretary; auditor Mr C. Heaphy. ' The need for providing an ambulance room at the various racecourses on the West Coast was stressed. With the exception of the Grey Jockey Club, it was said no club made ample provision for accidents, such as might happen in a trotting race, when there were a large number of starters. Mr C. Heaphy, secretary to the Ambulance Society, said that following a recent accident at the Greymouth trots ho had secured the co operation of the vice-preaident of the Canterbury Breeders' Association, who had promised to get his Association to move in the matter of urging West Coast Clubs to provide ambulance rooms on their courses. It was decided to affiliate with the Canterbury Owners' and Breeders' Association; and to urge Racing Clubs on the West Coast to increase the stakes for two trotting races to £IOO, where they were now below that figure.
