The personnel of the Unemployment Board was announced to night by the Minister for Labour, the Hon. S. G. Smith. He said the Governor-General had approved of the following persona to be members of the Unemployment Board, which is to assist in the administration of the Unemployment Act passed during the recent session, surnames first: Government Nominees. Burdoken, Hugh Blake, public ac,.initant, Wellington. Finn, George, merchant, Auckland. Primary Industries. Small, Patrick James, farmer, Kaitmiga. Secondary Industries. 1 Hutchinson, Francis Leigh, company secretary, Christcliureh. Workers' Organisations. Bromley, Walter, president Trades and Labour Council, Wellington. There was an attendance of between 200 and 300 at a special meeting of members of the Auckland Waterside Workers' Union called for the purpose of requesting the president of the Union, Mr Oscar Mcßrine, to exi>lain why he had allowed himself to be nominated for ,-t seat on the Unemployment Board. The Lnion, which is affiliated to the Alliance of Labour, had, in common with other organisations associated with the Alliance, decided to take no part in the setting up of the Board on the grounds that the workers were not to select their own representatives on that Hoard. It was contended that Mr McBrine had allowed his name to go forward for selection contrary to the wishes of his union, i The meeting lasted for about half an hour, and a3 no finality had been reached ' it was adjourned.
