Miss Clifford had begun her engineering course at- the Stag Lane Aerodrome, v/hich is an hour's drive from Egerton Garden, where she and her father are living. She works at the aerodrome from 9 a.m. tisl 5 p.m. each day and, in adidtion, on a few days oath week, she attends lectures from C p.m. till 8 p.m. At the end of tier course she hopes to qualify for a ground engineer's certificate. In her limited leisure, she is visiting the theatre arid enjoying many excellent productions, including ''Bitter Sweet," and '"Tho First Mrs Frazer," in which the name-part is played by Miss Ma rie Tempest. AEOLIAN CLUB'S RECITAL. Pot-plants and a bowl of beautiful Shirley poppies decorated the 6tage at the Kadiaut Hall last night, when the members of tho Aeolian Club gave their second recital of the season. Miss Irene Morris wore a smart frock of black georgette, with yoke of black lace, and full skirt, falling in points, hemmed and inset with black lace. Miss Bessie Pollard wore a Mack georgette frock, relieved at the low waist-line with a narrow baud of diarnonto and silver thread, while her coatee of black georgette was trimmed with floral pen-painted motifs. Miss Olive Cooper wore a midnightblue georgetto dress boldly patterned with pink and rose-coloured flowers. Misa Lilian Uanham, the vocalist, wore a hyacinth blue georgette frock, with pointed bodice of blue and silver brocade, and bow of blue velvet ribbon at the back. Miss Lucy Fullwood's graceful frock of primrose georgette patterned in orange and green in tloral design, fell elightly longer at the aides. Miss Eileen Hughson wore apple-

green georgette with very deep frock of apple-green laee, and narrow tailored belt clasped with a brilliant buckle. Miss Isla Barter wore a green circ lacs frock with tight, bodice, and pointed skirt finished with a large bow of coral pink taffeta at the waist, be.'d with a brilliant ornament.
