RECKLESS DRIVING

James Martin, a young- man with seven previous convictions for motoring offences, telephoned the police about three hours after the car he was driving had collided with another and stated that his ear had been stolen. By doing so Martin apparently thought he would escape responsibility. Next day he told the police that his first statement was untrue, and that he was driving the car. To-day, iD the Magistrate's Court, he was fined £lO for reckless driving and on each of the following charges: Failing to stop after au accident, failing to report an accident, and having 110 driver's license. Ho was also prohibited from obtaining a license for twelve months.
