POWER BOARDS.

NORTII CANTERBURY The monthly meeting of the North Canterbury Electric Power Board was held at Rangiora yesterday. Present— Messrs 11. Tallott (chairman), J. Fitzpatrick, J. D. Wyllie, D. il. Hutchison, A. Baxter, A. M. Carpenter, and the Engineer, Air J. If. Tompliii. Mr A. Buckingham, engineer-secretary, reported on the work Carried out during the past month. The reconstruction ol" tlie lines at Woodend township was almost completed. Additional low tension services had been ruu to Loburn and Waikuku Beach. The Waiparu River line was now in service. Three ■shipments of 050 do-sapped hardwood poles had arrived, and had been unloaded at Glnsnevin. Sefton, and Southbrook. On October 25th and "6th opportunity was taken to commence the duplication of the Oxford feeder. The maximum demand from the Lake Coleridge system for the month of October was 880 k.v.a., and tho unit consumption "82,000 units. Mr J. C. Ilancox, outside superintendent, reported that 37 new consumers had been connected, and 16 extensions math-, to existing installations. Eleven ranges, seven water-heaters, and 11 motors had been connected. The total connected load for the month was 162.211 £.w. Seventy-nine faults and consumers' complaints had been attended to. The inspector-salesman, Mr IT. J. Olsen, reported that the Department was very busy with 31 new installations and extensions. The contractor had completed the installations in the Cooper's Creek block, and these had been tested and connected to the supply. The financial statement as at October 31st, showed: —Receipts: Loan account, £1047 17s od; power account, £2OS9 8s 2d. The bank accounts showed: Loans account, Christchurch £3812 12s lOd; Rangiora £.1965 8s 3d. Power fund account, 3iIGSG 14s, all in credit. There is also a fixed deposit of £2OOO in the bank. The reports were adopted. A request that the Board link up with the Canterbury Progress League Was held over for the present. It was pointed out that the Board had already made a grant of S3 i!r> to tho League. Seven applications for financial assistance were received and granted. The recommendations of the engineers regarding concessions for heating and lighting of schools, churches, and eoun* try halls tvere adopted. It was decided that the Rangiora and Kaiapoi boroughs be granted rebates for power for September in th:j same proportion as the' Board receives from the Public Works Department. In respect to guarantees, it was decided to place the "Woodend hach-owucrs on the same basis as the baches at Waikuku Beach.
