The report for tho year waa tead, and showed that the last meeting had been very successful from a sporting point of view, although not ao successful financially &s some previous fixtures. This was accounted for by a drop in the entries through a number o£ clubs having to postpoife their gatherings owing to bad weather, and 'these meetings then clashed with the Methven fixture. Laet year the meeting was not held, owing to tho only available track being ploughed up. It was now available, and in better order than ever. Special mention was made of the support given to the meeting by amateur athletes and "representatives of the Amateur Athletio Association. This department showed a decided increaao, but this was offset by tho drop in the cash side of the programme. The Highland and national dancing proved a great attraction, and tho entries were good. The balance-sheet showed a balance in hand of £ll 15a Bd. Outstanding subscriptions totalling over £76 were referred to, and a hop© was expressed that vtoose members who had enjoyed the day's outing and had not yei paid their subscriptions would do eo. The. report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mesars Scott, J. Boyd, and M. Hepburn were elected members of the Society. A general discussion ensued as to whether it was advisable to hold a sports gathering in the near future. Mr Owen outlined a proposal to hold a programme of amateur events, also district events and children's and women's ©porta. The dancing portion of the programme could also be catered for. It was apparent that cash athletics were not a profitable proposition for Methven at present, and for thi3 year should be deleted. After discussion it was decided to hold * meeting on tho lines suggested, and to apply for January 3rd next as the data of the meeting. Misers Scott, Mcintosh, Bi-mior, J. Goodwin, and W. J. Owen were appointed a subcommittee io draw up a. programme and to submit it to a further general meeting of members.

It was agreed fo hold a" concert on the llifiht of tile sports. The election of ofS-sers and commilt s ;i> was bpki over until next wpok. NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL.
