| PEOPLE PARADE STREETS. few minor clashes. PRy.iJS ASSOCIATION- f»Y IKLKQaAPK COp?ttICBT.) (Received November 17tb, 5.0 p.m.) MADRID, November 1(5. -Madrid is experiencing the dullest Sunday in its existence, also the most complete general strike thus far known. The outstanding impression is that the city has "gone dry."' All the cafes, bars, and restaurants are closed, the employees having joined the 300,000 strikers. The cinemas and theatres are also shut, resulting in thousands ot persons parading the streets. The police tactfully contrived (.0 prevent the formation of crowds, obviously acting under orders to use tho utmost self-restraint to avoid further provocation of the workers, whom tlie leaders also warned not to resort to violence. Only a few minor clashes occurred, and there were no casualties. Only two newspapers, employing non-unionists, were published. All the food shops were closed, and there were huge queues outside the bakeries. Military lorries brought in bread from all parts of the country. The citizens are patiently suffering the inconveniences, including the Inok of public vehicles; but the maintenance of public serv ices and streetcleaning has been guaranteed by strikers. Genera] Bereiigtier declares that Communists inspired the strike. Forty Communists, mostly youths, and two midineites have been arrested. The strikers sav the demonstration was directed against General Mola, the police chief, who has had long service in Morocco, and who (they allege) treated the workers as if tliev wore Riffs., [A general strike was called in Madrid on Saturday as a result of the police firing on a crowd of 50,000 workmen, who were attending the funeral ot four men who had been killed through the collapse of a building. Two men were killed when the police tired.] STRIKE FADING OUT. (JJjccived November ISth, 12.35 a.m.) MADRID, November 17. Tlie strike is fading out.
