' • ■ (rBE3S 4SSOCIATIOK TiLiGJtAM.) 1 WELLINGTON, November 17. j After one of the best, races ever seen in Wellington, the 14 foot, Jellicoe class boat Betty, thrice.winner of. the Sanders Cup, romped home by a clear 300 yards in the first of the trials held this evening to select the Wellington representative, -which will compete in the Sanders Cup contest at Dunedin in February. Although handicapped by an extremely bad start, Betty, which was a hot favourite, overtook each of the other boats in turn to win by a. substantial margin. Sailing conditions, were well nigh ideal, with a fresh full sail northerly breeze. Six boate faced the starter as follows: - —Clyde (A. G, Crawford, skipper), Idono (F. Harlen), Wellesley 11. (N. Blair), Miss Josephine (D. McKenzie), Kia Ora (W. Ginders), and Betty (A. Johnson). The finishing times were: Hrs. Min. Sec. Betty , ...
