Matson and Co. held their annual Carnival Week trotting stock enle in Tattersall's Horße Baiaar yesterday. The ontry totalled 34, and immediately after they had been auctioued, 27 cobs, hacks, and ponies were submitted. The attendance was good and whenever a youngster came under tlio hammer competition was keen up to prices quite in keeping with the recent special sales conducted. Handicap horses on a tight mark and stock out of condition were very difficult to sell. The top price of the sale was for an excellent bay colt by Nelson Derby, sold on behalf of Mrs M. Duncan, Coldstream Lodge. This realised 100 guineas, and was secured by a buyer from the West Coast. The percentage of sales was good. In the sale of the cobs, hacks, and ponies, spirited competition was the order of the day. Very few of the lots failed to change hands. Several goocl cobs were sold at 15 guineas to various station-owners, in Canterbury. The sales were as follows:
