AMBULANCE BRIGADE.

• WORK OF THE WEEK. An appeal in aid of tho St. John Free Ambulance Service,, and the Aseocialion's other activities, has been coinnienced in real earnest, and circulars have already been sent out, calling for public subscriptions. The following is the executive of the Appeal Committee: —President, Sir R. Heaton Rhodes; chairman, Dr. J. B. Thomas; hon, treasurer, JHeut.-Colonel F. B. Crpswell; members, Bishop Brodie, Dr. F. J. Borrie, Captain G. Peek, Captain J. W. Crampton, Messrs A. C. Brctherton, H. L. Bowker, C. Buchanan, J. W. Graham, C. W. Hervey, A. O. Wilkinson, and A. Williams. Three hospital stations wore erected on the Show Grounds, and on Thursday these were run solely by the Christchureh, Beckenham, and Selwyn Nursing Divisions. Yesterday these stations were augmented by members of the Railway, Christchurch Men's and No. 3 Ambulance divisions. All Nursing Divisions, including the Girl Guides' Division did duty throughout the period of the Motor Exhibition at King Edward Barracks; while meni- ■ bers of the men's ambulance divisions wore fully occupied at the trottiug grounds and Riccarton racecourse. On Monday evening the Christchurch Nursing Division met at the Brigade rooms in Gloucester street, with a rocord attendance of members. The Lady Superintendent read several letters of congratulation. on the successes achieved at the recent competitions. One of these tetters was received from the Railway Division, Hillside, Dunedin. This Division is particularly proud of having won the Sister Katherine Peek Cup, besides several other valuable cups. Mrs BelJ was appointed Divisional representative on the Brigade Social Committee for the following year. After arranging public diities for the week, members did roller and first aid band* aging. One member reported having attended three cases of sickness in the City, and also rendering first aid to two children, who had met with minor accidents. The Selwyn Nursing Division met at the Brigade rooms on Tuesday evening. Mrs Angus presided. A letter was read from tho No. 1 Ambulance Division, Hillside, Dunedin, congratulating the Division on its successes at the recent competitions, Roporta were handed in from members on duty at the Motor Exhibition at King Edward Barracks. Two members were enrolled, and after tho first business of the evening tho Division was taken by Mrs. A. Bishop, District Officer, in soveral first aid tests, all of which wore carried out in a very efficient manner. Members of the Christchurch Men's Division met on Wednesday in the Brigade rooms. There wero twelve men on parade under Superintendent W. Wootton. Mr C. Poulson was admitted as a probationer. Mr R. N. Crampton was elected to represent the Division on the social committee. The work for the evening consisted of instruction to the first aid class in the treatment of fractures.
