WOMAN DROWNED. (.B*BBS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, November 14. A married woman, Mrs Linda Hart, aged about 35, of Silverdale was drowned while crossing Dwp near Silverdale, about four o'clock th« afternoon. Her bodv waa .found floating in the water by her a farmer, who had come to meet her. There arc no children. Mrs Hart, who lived about two nules on the Wade's Heads side ,® f ® dale,, was returning to her home with some purchases. The creek, wh l runs into the Wade River, is about a mile from Silverdale. It w crossed by a very narrow wooden footbridge with a wire railing on on© side, and it is , thought that Mrs Hart lost her footing and fell into the creek. Serious head injuries were received by Claude Mapple, a labourer, aged about 45, of Hawkhurst road, Lyttelton, when he tripped on the pavement and fell down a bank outside his house yesterday afternoon. Mapple was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital. His condition is serious. INJURED IN SIDE-SHOW. While looping-the-loop in "The Globe of Death" at the Metropolitan Show yesterday, E. Staig crashed off his motor -cvcle and received cuts on his chin and one of his elbows, and also received a slight injury to his head. After treatment in the outpatients' department of the Onristchurcii Public Hospital, he was discharged. The accident was caused by the belt of his machine breaking. BURNED TO DEATH. (rftifW ASSOCIATION tt LM|W.) REEFTON, November 14. Wilfred Charles Harvey, single a farmer, about 45, was burned to death in a hut at Oweka in the Inangahua Valley this ntorning. Residents saw a fire and visited the hut. They found the remains near the fireplace. Harvey originally came from Collingwcod_ and a brother lives at Karamea. LAUNCH TRAGEDY. The inquest touching the death of the victims of the launch tragedy in Cook Strait, in which James Pferano, aged 26, Magnus Huhter, aged 23, and Joseph Heberley, aged 33, lost their lives on September 30th, was concluded to-day. The Coroner (Mr J. S. Barton) said that although the was obvious he would refrain from giving a verdict until he had obtained the consent of tlie Attorney-General, which was necessary when a. body had Dot been discovered. In this case the body of Perano was still missing. BOY KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR-CAR. (PKE3S ASSOCIATION TXLZQRAU.) AUCKLAND, November 14. Serious injuries were received by a six-year-old boy, Desmond Pickett, when he was knocked down by a motorpar in Wellington street, Freeman's Bay, this evening. _ His condition at a late hour was critical. The bov was running across the road toward iiis home when the accident occurred. He suffered frac.tures of the skull and of the left thigh. One headlight of the motorcar was bent by the impact.
