CUP DAY AT ADDINGTON.

A great crowd attended the Metropolitan Trotting Club's Meeting at Addington yesterday, wh en the final of the New. Zealand Trotting Cup Handicap. was run amidst wild excitement The Hon. Mr P. a. de la Perrelle, Minister for Internal Affairs, and Mr H. A. Knight, chairman of the Canterbury Jockey Club, and Mrs Knight were the guests of the club at the Meeting. Mrs J. H. Williams, wife of the president, wore a black tailored suit, with biskra blouse, a black cloth coat with skunk collar and cuffs, and a black hat banded with vari-coloured ribbons To her fell the honour of presenting the handsome gold cup to Mr H. F Nicoll of Ashburton, the owner of Wrackler who was congratulated by Mr de la Per■relle on the success of his fine horse. Mrs C. M. Ollivier, wife of the vicepresident wore a black crepe de chine frock lightly patterned in orange, beau* tifill mink coat, and wide panamalac hat. After the second race, the Derby Stakes, she tied the coveted blue ribbon round the neck of Arethusa, the winning horse, which is also owned by Mr Nicoll.
